I wrote this song standing on a rooftop in Mexico, doing my morning stretches and freestyle

​

It was only 8am but it was already warm af, the sun shining, good smells coming from the cafe below, cool people walking around on the streets...

​

I couldn't help but wonder how tf I got to experience such a dope place

​

The words to this song just kind of came to me, and it's a reflection on how fast life can change -- split into 2 parts:

​

In the first verse, I'm rapping over YouTube beats in my parents' basement, lugging my recording equipment across my college campus and wondering if I'll ever break out of the cage that is my own head

​

In the second verse, I'm standing on a balcony in Rome with my Italian crush, both of us naked except for our underwear, overlooking a fat dome of a church lit up by lights and shit at 3 o'clock in the morning

 

After touring the world with a rock band and performing in front of my hometown crowd

 

I don't think I'll ever forget that moment... or stop being grateful that it did

The wild thing is it's the same kid in both verses... turns out all I needed was time

​

If your life feels more like the first verse right now... keep going

​

Because there's always a second verse ;)
